Healthy Eating – Canton Chinese, Huddersfield
A TAKEAWAY owner proves that some fast food can be good for you after winning won a top healthy eating award.

Healthy Chinese Food
The owner of Canton Chinese Takeaway, Stephen Chan from Huddersfield, was delighted to receive recognition for making healthy Chinese food.
The Takeaway in Old Wakefield Road was opened just over a year ago and has offered customers a healthy alternative of Chinese Food.
The 30-year-old said: “We use a lot of fresh vegetables like fresh broccoli, asparagus and Chinese leaf.”
The takeaway offers tofu for vegetarians, salad instead of rice or chips and can lower the salt content of dishes if requested.
Mr Chan said: “From the beginning we’ve been pushing for the healthy option. There’s a misconception that all takeaway food is bad for you.
“Chinese food isn’t always deep-fried. Stir fry is in fact one of the healthiest ways to cook and it’s better than a pizza or a donner kebab.”
Mr Chan was presented with the Kirklees Healthy Option Award by Louise Mohammed of Kirklees Council’s environmental services.

Fast Food – Order Takeaway Online
A new nationwide service has been launched in the UK to help Users locate an interactive online takeaway food order service in their local area.

It is called Y4Food.co.uk and is the brainchild of Justin Eames, a Hampshire-based entrepreneur.
Why Four? Because Y4 is the common reference for the receptor that has been identified as a mediator of the regulation of food intake and appetite, hence Y4Food or Satisfy your Appetite for Food in an abstract sense.
There are currently over 30 online takeaway order websites listed, covering almost 6,000 restaurants. The host sites are indexed regularly to ensure data is kept as fresh as the food.
Justin says, “The most frustrating part of ordering online is trying to find a takeaway restaurant that serves your local area. We have just set up a new service that finds your local takeaway restaurant and links through to the right page on the host site ready to place your order.”
Customers are able to search local restaurants, pass through seamlessly to the host site, and select food from the online menus, order takeaway and home delivery.
The system does not require registration, and there are many additional functions being planned for the site, such as being able to write reviews and rate restaurants on quality, service and value.
Meals ordered using this service cost no more than they would directly from the restaurants and simplifies the process of finding, ordering and paying for takeaway food.
