Free Parking in London
A new venture that enables drivers visiting London to park for free has just been launched. The mobile phone facility offered by Freetopark.co.uk is an SMS text based service, which allows the user to find totally free parking within walking distance of London tube stations. This service means drivers no longer have to worry about where they are going to park in London. They can avoid paying the high costs of the London Congestion charge, long stay parking fees and not worry about being ticketed and towed from controlled parking zones.
All drivers need to do is text the word “parking” plus the name of a tube station to 80039 and by return, they receive a text giving you the names of 3 roads with the postcode for each road. The roads are all within an approximate 5 minute walk of the station, some slightly further, but all within a 10 minute distance. The text costs £1.50 plus normal network charges. MD Mark Flyss comments ‘We all suffer as drivers with increasingly high meter charges, the inconvenience of finding spaces and more often needing to pay for them by mobile phone, the massive increase of controlled parking zones, and over efficient parking wardens who will penalise a driver within moments of a penalty being due. All these issues are putting a huge burden on drivers in these recessionary times.
Our idea is twofold – let drivers park easily and for free and also utilise the tube service, which will help keep traffic levels down in London, helping to alleviate the congestion and pollution levels in the city. Although we are concentrated on London tube network at the moment, we are working on increasing our database of free locations near other popular locations and in other major cities with a view to rolling out the concept into other areas, building a free parking network for drivers who are tired of being taken advantage of by Councils and private parking companies”
