Some teeth whitening advice in cosmetic dentistry
Teeth whitening is becoming popular as everybody wants sparkling white teeth. It makes us look more attractive when we smile. Cosmetic dentistry and other related teeth whitening advices are one way to make our teeth look healthy and white. There are number of teeth whitening products available to us now. Some of them are easily available over the counter.
Whitening toothpaste is the most common product though it may not actually repair damaged teeth but maintain the health of the teeth. Though formulation and effectiveness of toothpastes have improved over the years, the way to use it remains the same. Other option is teeth whitening gel or bleaching gel. These contain peroxide which removes stain by penetrating the teeth enamel. Another product is laser teeth whitening gel which is activated using laser light, preferably in a cosmetic dentist's chamber. The heat of the laser device penetrates the enamel and removes the stain from the teeth.
The first step toward teeth whitening procedure through cosmetic dentistry is to go for some professional teeth whitening advice. Just being aware of the products is not enough. Before you try something on your own teeth whitening advice should be followed, otherwise, the product may harm you.
The best place for receiving teeth whitening advice will be the cosmetic dentistry clinic. The dentist in the clinic will examine your teeth and advice you accordingly. He or she will be able to tell you, by looking at your teeth, what kind of whitening procedure will suit you the best, the time required for the process, how much whitening your teeth may receive once the procedure is over, and the approximate cost.
Surfing the net is another way to get teeth whitening advice while going in for cosmetic dentistry. There are lots of articles available on the net on this subject. The only problem is that you may have to decide on your own which teeth whitening procedure will suit you the best.
These are some other teeth whitening advice which you may like to consider while going in for cosmetic dentistry:
• To bleach the teeth the dentist will use hydrogen peroxide which will be spread on the teeth for laser treatment. This substance is harmful if it penetrates the gum. So, immediately after the treatment you should rinse off your mouth.
• If you have some kind of white filling already in your teeth, remove it, because it will remain less white after the process of teeth whitening.
• After using cosmetic dentistry another general yet effective teeth whitening advice will be regarding the aftercare. You should brush your teeth immediately after eating or drinking or at least rinse it. Using a whitening toothpaste will also help. It is essential that you should maintain the whitening as long as possible.
You should be careful to choose the product you use for teeth whitening. Use only a good product and do not hesitate on purchasing the costlier ones. Using a cheap and substandard product can harm your teeth permanently.
The final teeth whitening advice is whatever you do, do it properly. You may pay a little more for your teeth whitening than you want to but the end result should be what you wanted from cosmetic dentistry .

Fertility clinics to provide patients with costed treatment plans under fertility regulator’s new Code of Practice
Fertility clinics will be expected to provide every patient with a costed treatment plan, under new guidelines for UK fertility clinics published today.
Costed treatment plans are just one of the changes set out in the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority’s (HFEA) 8th Code of Practice for fertility clinics which comes into effect with the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 on 1 October 2009. Costed treatment plans set out how much treatment will cost before it starts.
Plans will be updated if the costs change during the course of treatment.
Other key changes to the Code include:
- a clear definition of supportive parenting to help them make a welfare of the child assessment before carrying out treatment
- a cooling-off period for couples who have parted but who have embryos in storage allowing time for former partners to come to a reconciliation
- bringing the HFEA’s long standing ban on sex selection for non-medical or ‘social’ reasons into law.
Professor Lisa Jardine CBE, Chair of the HFEA, said,
“With the majority of people in the UK funding their own treatment, cost is a major concern. The changes to our Code will help ensure that patients know upfront exactly how expensive their treatment will be.
“The UK’s fertility clinics treat thousands of patients each year and are responsible for the safety of these patients, their eggs, sperm and embryos. Our new Code of Practice sits alongside robust and targeted regulation, to ensure that clinics are absolutely clear about their responsibilities. “

The Heatwave begins
This week forecasters predict that we could experience some of the hottest days of the summer so far and said there is a 60% chance of temperatures reaching 32C (89.6F). The Met Office has issued a "heat health" warning for this week.
The Department of Health have advised staying in the shade during the hottest parts of the day, avoiding strenuous activities and to stay hydrated by drinking plenty. Children and the elderly are most at risk. Air conditioning fans at home are a good way to keep cool and having ice lollipops in is another way to keep fluid levels up. As we are not use to such hot weather lasting for so long, it is important to follow the advice on offer. Too much sun can lead to health complaints, some short term such as dehydration and heat stroke. But these can easily be avoided by looking after yourself in the sun.
NetVoucherCodes provides a massive selection of retailers that can help you prepare yourself and your family for the hot weather. There are retailers covering sun cream, sun-hats, fans, aftersun, sunglasses, summer clothing and footwear. These products can be essential in ensuring you stay safe in the sun. You don't have to sepnd a fortune either, as many retailers on www.netvouchercodes.co.uk have offers, vouchers and Summer Sales currently on at present, some as much as 70% off!
Here is just a small selection of the retailers available on www.netvouchercodes.co.uk; Boots.com, Sunglasses UK, AirConDirect, Miss Selfridge, Simply Beach, New Look, Born2BeCool, Kids Shoe Factory, Debenhams, D&A Designer Sunglasses, Schuh and Superdrug.

LA Muscle Bodybuilder Godfrey Onyac Wins INBF Heavyweight Title
Godfrey Onyac a bodybuilder from West London has just returned to the UK after competing and winning the heavyweight title at the INBF Championships- an international competition for natural bodybuilder that took place in Barbados on June 20th.

His first competition was the BNBF Southern qualifier and he placed 3rd in the Novice category. He then placed 1st in the NPA Southern qualifier and the same again at the NPA British Finals 2005.
In 2008 Godfrey competed in the INBF in New York, USA where he placed 2nd in the Heavyweights category so it’s needless to say that he was over the moon with his result this year!

Weight Loss Surgery Cures Diabetes
Weight loss surgery for gastric bypasses and gastric bands can cure diabetes, a leading UK obesity expert said today.
Dr Carel Le Roux, from weight management centre Vita Clinics, said weight loss was really just a side effect of weight loss surgery. The real benefit was a dramatic improvement in health and quality of life.
Dr Le Roux said: “Studies of more than 1,000 people in the US have found that 83 per cent of those with type 2 diabetes who underwent weight loss surgery were cured of the disease². This is a massive breakthrough and could help millions of people in the UK do away with this debilitating illness.
“I have seen people who are dependent on insulin leave hospital 48 hours after weight loss surgery insulin free. It is a modern miracle!
“It is important to try to prevent obesity, but we have a current generation of adults who, without specialist medical or surgical treatment, will die early from their obesity – as many as nine years early. With obesity related diseases such as type 2 diabetes cured by surgery in around 80% of cases, it is essential that obese people have access to the proven treatments they so badly need,” he added.
Sharon Watterson battled with obesity for several years and reached the stage where she couldn’t even walk and had to give up work as a nurse practitioner because she was carrying so much weight and felt so unwell. In 2005 she developed type 2 diabetes which was so unstable doctors were considering putting her on insulin. Sharon underwent a gastric bypass and her diabetes rapidly disappeared.
“I dropped 16 dress sizes, 12 stone and I don’t have to take my diabetes drugs any more because the symptoms have just disappeared. It was amazing. I am a completely different, disease-free person,” she said.
The rates of obesity in the UK have more than doubled in the last 25 years. Nearly a quarter of men and a quarter of women are obese. Based on current trends nearly 60 per cent of the UK population could be obese by 2050 - that is almost two out of three people1.
At the moment, more than 700,000 people in the UK are in the weight band that means they qualify for obesity surgery or medical support; around 8,000 surgical procedures are completed in the UK every year. More than 2.5 million people have Diabetes in the UK, with type 2 Diabetes accounting for 90%³.
The Vita Clinics weight management clinics are dedicated to helping people who are overweight or obese and have taken on some of the best dieticians, physicians, nurses, surgeons and psychologists in the country to provide weight management treatments and surgery.

The Best Full Body Workout
So theres a lot of information on the world wide web about weight training and most of this info seems to fall into two categories. The first category is the ’sheep’ and the second one is the ‘innovators’. It seems the majority of people fit into these 2 categories.
Most of the information you find on the web about building muscle states that you should ideally be training 4-5 days a week and training one major body part in each work out. They generally promote a lot of isolation work too.
Now we move on to body building magazines, most of the information in these seem to be massively exaggerated, for example the last I read stated I needed to be doing 12-20 sets per workout doing isolation exercises and had no mention of squatting or deadlifting. I know people who have trained like this and followed every magazine routine imaginable, yet they see no real difference in their pyshique and innevitably they give up!
I personally believe in and live by the full body workout. 3 times a week, mostly compound movements (bench press, dead lift, squats, rows etc) and very few isolation exercises. By going back to basics I guarantee you will get stronger faster than any isolation workout and I have always made great progress on compound routines!
This paired with a good diet and a protein shake after your workouts is a sure fire way to increase muscle mass and core strength! Now bin those magazines and get squatting!
Finding A Recommended Chiropodist With Chiropodist.org.uk
A chiropodist specializes in diseases of the lower limb, this includes an assessment of the disease, diagnosing and then treating the abnormality.
The process of chiropody training to become chiropodists takes over four years, but when the student has finished the chiropodist courses the student will be trained to alleviate, prevent and correct these disorders, alongside providing professional advice to patients on how to care for their feet properly and what to look out for in regards to problems with their feet.
Advice like this will vary through different age groups and the chiropodist needs to be able to advise all age groups, as this will different throughout the ages.
There are a number of typical treatment activities that are taken out by registered chiropodists who practice chiropody; these include the treatment of dermatological foot problems such as callouses, in-growing toenails, verrucas and fungal nail infections, as well as minor infections like this, chiropodists and podiatrist are also trained in treatment of long term chronic lower limb disorders, this includes monitoring and managing long term foot problems which are the result of diseases.
Educating their patients about general foot healthcare is also an element of chiropody and podiatry; this is to help to quickly cure any existing problems but to also avoid any future problems from foot troubles.
There are a large number chiropodists practicing and the majority of these are London based, so if you are looking for a chiropodist London or a chiropodist UK then the first place you are usually advised to look is a listed directory of registered chiropodist to find a recommended practitioner who you will able to have a high standard of treatment guaranteed.
A good chiropodist will belong to a registered medical association such as NHS chiropodist and will be able to also give you chiropody supplies that will help to treat the condition that they have diagnosed, if a chiropodist belong to a large number of associations then you can be sure that the chiropodist is knowledgeable.
Scholl chiropodists are usually a group of chiropodists, who have come together to share a clinic to cut down the costs of electricity and any other expenses, when clinics are shared it is a good advantage to the client as second and third opinions are readily available when lower limb problems are being diagnosed.
Chiropodist Milton Keynes and Chiropodist Brighton also will specialize in a certain aspect of chiropody as well as general treatments, this means that when looking for a chiropodist through a directory you can find one that specializes in a certain area depending upon the specific treatment you may need.

The food and drink you consume stains your teeth, smoking also stains your teeth and makes the natural white shade of the teeth darker and they appear yellow. Whitening teeth is very simple and is a successful method of lightening the teeth, Giving you a brighter whiter smile the whiteness will vary between each patient and how stained the teeth are to begin with, different processes’ of bleaching can also be used to increase the final result.
Lifestyle Teeth Whitening Solution is a combination of treatments, you will have an initial consultation and then be given a two week home treatment, once you have completed your home treatment you will need to visit the clinic for a one hour consultation with a dentist, enlighten teeth whitening works by increasing the tooth’s permeability to oxygen – this breaks down stain molecules.
Also offered at Lifestyle Dental, is a one-hour teeth whitening treatment, this is a powerful treatment and can lighten you teeth up to seven shades in just one hour. We are very careful with this procedure and your teeth and gums are covered whilst a special gel is applied to your teeth, the gel is then activated by a special light, causing the gel to penetrate your teeth that breaks up stains and discoloration.
The final option we offer for whitening is the at home treatment, we will take a mould of your teeth and create a custom-made mouth tray from this mould, we will then show you how to add the gel to the mouth tray which needs to be worn for a short time in the day or whilst you are asleep, the results from at home whitening are see after two weeks.
If you would like any further information regarding treatments that can be completed at lifestyle dental, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic or book a free of charge private consultation.

Creativity From Within. Art Psychotherapy
What is Art Therapy?
The relationship between the therapist and the client is of central importance, but art therapy differs from other talking therapies in that it is a three way process between the client, the therapist and the image or construction. It offers a way to express and communicate for people who find it hard to express their thoughts and feelings in words.
Where does Art Therapy take place?
Art therapy can be found in the following settings.
Health services
* Hospitals, medical and psychiatric
* Outpatient facilities
* Eldercare facilities
Social services
* Residential treatment centres
* Youth centres
* Correctional facilities
* Rehabilitation centres
Educational settings
* Mainstream and special schools
Community settings
* Art studios
* Community centres (this includes private practice art therapists)
* Cross-cultural centres
What do I do in Art Therapy?
You are given time with art materials to make things, play and talk.
Why do people see an Art Therapist?
Sometimes changes in their lives at home, school, with family and friends make some people behave differently, or have very strong feelings about. It may be hard to talk and think about how you feel.
What kind of things do Art Therapists help people with?
Some reasons a person sees an art therapist may be:
To help you think about how you look and feel about yourself
To feel more confident in yourself
To explore changes and bad experiences in your life from the past and put them behind you
To understand why you do things that you don’t want to do
To have a stable and understanding place to go when things in life seem very unsafe or changeable
How can Art Therapy help me?
Art therapy encourages you to express yourself and communicate how they feel. This helps them gain increased self awareness, understanding and self esteem. Art Therapy can be another way to express things.
Do I have to be good at Art?
Art therapy is not about being good at art but being willing to use the materials to express yourself with art materials. Art Therapy aims to help people make change and grow on a personal level through the use of art materials in a safe environment.
When and where will I see the Art Therapist?
You will see the same art therapist on each Appointment. You will work in a quiet room at your local centre.
Who knows that I am doing Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is private within the health team unless you or someone you know is unsafe and have been or are at risk of being hurt. We will talk to you about this when we meet.
While you do Art Therapy your work will be kept in a safe place and is looked after by the Art Therapist. When you have finished working with an Art Therapist you can keep your Art work or it can be stored for up to 3 years at the centre after this is will be safely disposed of. The person who has referred you and your G.P., parents or carers will know you have been offered Art Therapy. Your Art Therapist will have supervision with another professional in their team, to make sure that they are helping you in the best way they can. If other professionals work with you we may all meet to make sure we are all working together to help you and your family. You can tell people you are doing Art Therapy if you want to.
What happens if I don’t like Art Therapy?
If you are not happy with Art Therapy we want you to talk to us about this. If you have questions about Art Therapy please feel free to ask your Art Therapist.

5 Healthy Ways To Treat Your Dad This Father’s Day
This year dads all across the world will be celebrating Fathers Day on Sunday 21st June. Rather than the usual- a pair of socks, a tie or some cuff links, why not treat him to something healthy this year? Show how much you care by helping him take better care of himself. Here are some suggestions:
Gym membership/ Gym buddy
An excellent way to encourage your dad to get into shape would be to sign him up at your gym. If he has a gym buddy then it will encourage him to go more frequently and it’s also a chance for you to spend more time together. If this sounds a bit costly why not encourage him to get more exercise by planning regular days to do activities together like jogging, walking, golf, tennis, swimming, etc. It’s also a good way for you both to enjoy the outdoors this summer.
Health supplements & grooming kit
Rather than a smelly after shave, grab your dad some healthy supplements that he can take to give him an overall feeling of wellbeing. When looking for supplements that are effective, it’s worth doing your research to find a trustworthy brand that you can trust.
Leading sports nutrition specialists LA Muscle do a range of supplements available on www.lamuscle.com to suit all needs. Try LA Whey or VIP Protein, top quality protein that repairs and builds muscle, Fatstripper or Nobese helps you to lose weight quickly but safely and Multi Protector or Speedstar are great if you’re just looking for something to help boost the immune system, energy levels, etc. These are only a few of the options that they offer.
Home gym
Most people assume a home gym has to include expensive equipment such as a treadmill, which could set you back hundreds and even thousands of pounds but it doesn’t have to be. LA Muscle personal trainer recommends that all you really need are a set of adjustable dumbbells, an exercise ball, a set of resistance bands, and a mat, which are all available from any sports goods retailer on your high street.
Fitness gadgets
Want to know how to help your dad get fit and look cool all with one present? The ultimate boy toy! There are literally hundreds of trendy gadgets like the I-pod/Nike Sports Sensor Kit for monitoring your fitness progress when jogging or computer console such as Nintendo Wii where you take part in almost every sport without leaving the comfort of your own from room. There are gadgets available on the market to suit every budget designed to make exercising and getting fit that little bit more pleasurable.
For more ideas why not check out the gadgets shows on www.lamuscle.tv , LA Muscle TV-The No.1 Channel Dedicated to Health, Fitness & Lifestyle.
Cook a meal –breakfast lunch or dinner
A healthy treat doesn’t always have to be an expensive one. For those of us on a tight budget why not cook your dad and even the rest of the family a healthy and nutritious breakfast. For a healthy version of the traditional English breakfast, substitute your fry up for a grill up by doing the following:
- Grill food instead of frying it.
- Use lean bacon, and cut the fat off.
- Try reduced fat sausages.
- Eggs are a good source of iron and calcium - poach them or boil them to get the most nutritional benefit.
- Serve with low sugar, low fat baked beans a slice of granary toast.
- Grilled mushrooms and a grilled tomato can count towards your five a day
Include starchy foods such as wholemeal bread and wholegrain cereals as they provide a slow release of energy that will keep you going till lunchtime. Use skimmed, semi skimmed milk or even soya milk (suitable for vegans and the lactose intolerant) which has lower fat and cholesterol levels than whole fat milk. Fruits and yoghurts are also great options to have as treats.
Fresh juice, smoothies, green tea or water are great alternatives to caffeine filled drinks like tea or coffee.
To celebrate Father’s Day this year, leading sports nutrition specialists LA Muscle would like to offer readers 12.5% off first orders made on www.lamuscle.com by quoting unique referral code - LA51468747. This will set you up with your own code, allowing you to build up points when you recommend someone.

New ‘Tomato Pill’ Ateronon Prevents Atherosclerosis – Medical Breakthrough!
A leading stroke expert has welcomed the results of trials on a compound which offers people around the world the hope of combating atherosclerosis.
Peter Kirkpatrick, Consultant Neurovascular Surgeon at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, said the launch of Ateronon, the natural supplement developed by Cambridge scientists, was an important breakthrough in the potential treatment of strokes.
Dozens of in-vitro studies and epidemiological research projects have shown that lycopene – found in the skins of ripe tomatoes – has the capacity to significantly reduce atherosclerosis. Lycopene is the potent antioxidant isolated for its health-promoting properties from the Mediterranean diet.
Until now, the problem has been how to manipulate the molecular structure of the compound to provide optimum absorption.
Researchers from Cambridge Theranostics Limited (CTL), a biotech spin-out company of Cambridge University, have now proved they have done it with their new Ateronon compound.
Peter Kirkpatrick said: “For many years now, we have been trying to identify agents that may protect us from the devastating effects of a stroke. Ateronon is an exciting safe agent that may prove to have a major impact on this disease. “
Results from their early trials involving 150 people with heart disease were made public for the first time at the British Cardiovascular Society annual conference in London on Monday (1 June), Ateronon is being referred to as the 'tomato pill' after being launched into the media today.
The Ateronon formulation combines lycopene with milk and soy-based proteins to produce a much smaller, and more bio-available molecule. The early studies have shown that Ateronon can inhibit the oxidation of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol to almost zero within eight weeks.
Large scale studies are now being undertaken at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, and at Harvard Medical School, in the expectation that they will demonstrate that the reduction of LDL oxidation is translated into improved heart and circulatory health –and improved survival rates.
The study was built on research originally carried out by the giant food multi-national Nestle, who were looking for a way to capture the therapeutic benefits of the tomato-derived compound lycopene.
After its launch to doctors this month, Ateronon will be made available direct to consumers through high street pharmacists from July onwards.
Dr Gunter Schmidt, a biologist and chief executive of CTL, said he is confident that once doctors had observed the benefits of Ateronon, they would instantly see the potential benefits.
He said: “We are extremely excited about Ateronon. We have 10 worldwide patents recognising its efficacy, but we want its capabilities to be taken very seriously by clinicians as well. We don’t want it dismissed as just another food supplement.”
An estimated 17.5 million people died from heart and circulatory diseases in 2005, representing 30% of all global deaths. Of these deaths, an estimated 7.6 million were due to coronary heart disease and 5.7 million were due to stroke[1].
More than 117,000 people die each year in the UK from coronary heart disease. It accounts for one in five deaths in men and one in six deaths in women[2].
The four million people who take statins to help lower their cholesterol and chances of suffering a heart attack or stroke could benefit from using Ateronon. The product can be taken alongside statins.
Although cholesterol does put people at risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke, half of all heart attacks and three quarters of all strokes occur in people who do not have raised cholesterol.
Alongside the development of Ateronon, Ivan Petyaev, a senior cardiologist and Medical Director of CTL, has invented an important new assay as a consequence of research from a project originally funded with a grant from the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
The BHF project was investigating the role of bacteria in the development of atherosclerotic plaque. It is known that Chlamydia pneumoniae bacteria are always present in the circulatory systems of heart disease sufferers, and Petyaev has developed an innovation called the AtheroAbzyme kit, which detects antibodies to the bacteria.
The level of antibody activity is in direct proportion to the level of atherosclerotic activity, and the test can give an accurate picture of the progress of the disease – and most importantly, the effect of Ateronon in controlling it.
“What we have done is to develop a method of delivering something which is of known benefit, and a method of measuring what it is doing,” Dr Petyaev added.

Revolutionary New Supplement ‘Tomato Pill’ Ateronon Launched
A leading nutrition expert has welcomed the launch of a potentially revolutionary heart disease treatment which offers people around the world the hope of combating the killer disease atherosclerosis.
Nutritional therpaist Lisa Smith, from Nutriology in Kent, said the launch of Ateronon, the natural supplement developed by Cambridge scientists, was a huge breakthrough in the treatment of heart disease related illnesses.
Dozens of studies and research projects have shown that lycopene – found in the skins of ripe tomatoes – has the capacity to significantly reduce atherosclerosis. Lycopene is the potent antioxidant isolated for health-promoting properties from the Mediterranean diet.
Lisa Smith said that until now, scientists had been unable to find a way of modifying lycopene molecules so they can be readily absorbed into the human body.
Researchers from Cambridge Theranostics Limited (CTL), a biotech spin-out company of Cambridge University, have now proved they have done it with their new Ateronon compound.
She added: “The potential impact of this new supplement is huge. If we have something here that reduces the oxidation of harmful fats or lipids in the blood to almost zero within as little as eight weeks, then we have a life saver.
“We might see a fall in the number of people suffering heart attacks, strokes and other problems relating to arterial damage and the clogging up of the arteries. That has to be welcomed.”Results from their early trials involving 150 people with heart disease were made public for the first time at the British Cardiovascular Society annual conference in London on Monday (1st June).
