Golfing in Spain
Spain is one of the leading destinations for golf in Europe, with dozens of golf courses strewn across the country. The country first gained its widespread fame as a golfing destination when it hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup, which was held in Valderrama. Currently, Spain is the site of more courses of the highest quality than any other European country combined. Many of the golf courses in Spain are clustered at the Costa del Sol along Spain’s southwestern coast.
The climate and the varying landscapes of Spain are the two qualities that make the country an ideal destination for golf tourism. The country experiences a Mediterranean climate that makes the weather warm and mild throughout the year. Many of the hotels and resorts in Spain have partnerships with golf courses to allow their guests to experience the Spanish brand of golf during their stay.
