Lucile Lingerie Boutique
Lucile, the beautiful lingerie boutique on Police Street, Manchester has been has been acquiring a cult following since their opening in November. Inspired by the Lucile couture houses founded by owner Camilla Blois’ great-great-great Grandmother, Lady Duff Gordon in 1890, this beautiful boutique has quickly established itself as a must stop shop for women in the North West.
Frustrated by the lack of desirable and functional lingerie available, Camilla has packed Lucile full of exclusive to Manchester brands such as Myla, Marie-Jo, Mimi Holliday, Simone Perele, Fleur of England, Aubade, Empreinte, Coco Ribbon and Prima Donna as well as beachwear from Heidi Klein and Myla.
The Lucile boutique is reminiscent of the infamous Rose Rooms where Lady Duff Gordon first introduced Edwardian society to lingerie, throwing away corsets and slipping them into beautiful handmade silk negligees instead. Camilla has created a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, with the plush changing rooms with the all important adjustable lighting and where there is always a glass of wine to hand! Family photographs and pictures of original Lucile designs are nestled amongst the beautiful lingerie giving the shop a truly personal feel- a refreshing change from the harsh lighting of department stores!
Lucile promotes a Parisian approach to lingerie, emphasising the power of lingerie and the importance of ensuring that your undergarments do justice to your carefully considered wardrobe by flattering your figure and instilling a confidence in women that will take you from the boardroom to the bedroom. ‘I think beautiful lingerie adds to the feminine mystique’ says Camilla ‘There is no point wearing a beautiful dress with killer heels and glittering jewels if underneath it all you are wearing greying pants with snapped elastic!’
As we all know wearing the right bra size is an absolute must, ‘I have seen women transform their figures by finding their true bra size. It corrects your posture, defines your waist and instantly makes you lose a couple of inches’ Camilla explains ‘the difference it can make to a woman is amazing and of course this change in body shape instantly makes you more confident.’
The knowledge of the Lucile staff is second to none , using traditional measuring methods (without a tape measure in sight) these girls understand about fit, comfort, fabric and colouring even working in conjunction with a local tailor to ensure the perfect fit for every individual. With a range of sizes starting at 28 backs and going up to an H cup, there is something for everyone at Lucile.
